Kroger- Little Trip

I stopped in today to pick up a tracfone card for my son's phone (not pictured). I buy gift cards at Kroger because they count double toward the gas discount. I also bought a McDonald's card for the same reason- and I can log it on Upromise.com to get a little back on it there as well. But, those don't count in my grocery budget. Here's what else I got:

Paint rollers (they don't count in my grocery budget either, but were on clearance for $0.90 for a double pack).
12 pack Dr. K $2.19 (shoulda stocked up more a couple weeks ago for $1.77!)
10 Ramen noodles $1/10
Kroger oven cleaner $1.50 (hope this gets the burned on gunk off my grill burner)

OOP: $4.90 (not counting paint rollers)
Saved: ZERO (but the noodles were cheap!!)

Kroger- Big Trip

As you can see, my family eats a lot of frozen food! It doesn't make for the cheapest grocery bill, but it's better than eating out. I forgot to put the eggs in this picture. I had a few coupons; I'll list only those items if I can remember them all, the my total:

2 Seapak Shrimp 4.99 ea used $1/2
Tyson Chicken $4.99 used $1 q

Walgreens

The main purpose of this trip was to use up some register rewards that I had expiring. I goofed, though- I thought I had a $1 coupon on the Right Guard, making it free- but the q was for Gillette- BIG OOPS!! I bought it anyway, since it was still only $0.99~

2 Tuf Bags $3.50 ea
3 household gloves $0.99 ea used WAG 3/$1 coupon- took off $1.97
2 Pledge multisurface $3.50 used (2) $2 q's

Walgreen's $0.44 OOP

It always seems like at Walgreen's, when I have register rewards about to expire (they only go 2 weeks), there is nothing I really want to buy. The small dental brushes looked perfect for my son's braces. The cashier tried to tell me that my $3 RR would not work (my total was $3.44, $0.19 of which was tax). I asked her to scan & see and of course, it DID work. I guess she thought that since it would bring my OOP so low, it wasn't"right". But since RR's are MANUFACTURER'S coupons, the only REAL rule is that you must have more items than you have coupons, and your SUBTOTAL must be the amount of the RR or greater. I think it also states NO DAIRYas well. I also used the WAG coupon to get 5 Jello for $1.

OOP: $0.44
Saved $5.34 ($3 RR & Jello coupon was worth $2.24)

Walmart- Used Free Suave Coupon

It's a shame to wander aimlessly around Walmart, not finding anything to buy because everything is so high- and they are supposedly the lowest prices~ I was going to use the free mascara coupon from the All You magazine, but they were out of stock- no surprise! But, I think I will give the coupon to someone else anyway, since tax on it would be almost $0.50. I don't use much mascara, anyway. So I only got:

2 MM OJ $2.58 ea
Sara Lee Bread $1.97
Suave Lotion $2.97 free item coupon took off $3.00

OOP: $7.52
Saved $3.00

Bi-Lo: FREE MENTOS GUM

I was a little disappointed today at Bi-lo; but not surprised. There were several b1/g1 items on my list that I wanted to get, but they were out of almost everything. AND, it seemed like there were only 2 people working in the whole store, so I did not take the time to get rainchecks. I figure the sales will come around again, preferably at Kroger. Anyway:

Clear Value sugar $1.78 (I never got by last week when they had Domino sugar 2/$3; didn't realize I was almost out til my son used the last of my sugar to make tea).
Rice Krispie treats b1/g1= $1.39 ea
2 Ronzoni meals b1/g1 = $1.12 ea used b1/g1 q- cashier took off $1.13

20 oz Diet Dr Pepper $1.49 used free item coupon
Lloyd's BBQ b1/g1= $3.49 used $0.75 q
Eggo Syrup b1/g1 = $1.67

OOP: $10.53

2009 calendar at 90% of- $0.79 (The wall calendar is not pictured- only the little ones that came with it)
Irish Spring body wash $4.99 used $0.50 q

Cheap diapers & more Dr. Pepper

OK>>>>>Before anyone who knows me asks what's up with the diapers- THESE ARE TO GIVE AWAY BECAUSE I GOT THEM SO CHEAP!!!! I think I am too old to have anymore~ Maybe. Anyway...

Walgreen's has Huggies on sale for $10/pk and is you spend $25, you get a $10 register reward. Well, at www.coupons.com you can print a $5 coupon for the gentle care and a $3 coupon on any Huggies. I think there is a print limit of 2 maybe, but I have 2 computers~. So, $30 - $15 = $15. After $10 RR, $5 + tax for 3 pks of diapers. I used the $10 from the diapers to buy the Dr. Pepper, and got another $3 RR.

OOP: $20.49 (I include tax, so your's may be different on the same deal)
Saved: $25.00

Sometimes, all it takes is a phone call!

Last weekend, I went into Walgreen's and bought these 8 Dove soap. The regular price was $1.39 each, but I had the WAG coupon for $0.99 ea, limit 3. I should have gotten a $10 register reward. Well, the coupon gave me all 8 for $0.99 ea, but no register reward. I'd also tried to buy the blink and IT didn't print, either. Well, since the Blink was $7.99, I returned it. I let the Dove issue go, because I had used a register reward from a different deal to buy it, and the whole thing was a hassle I didn't want. BUT, this week, I found a phone # for Catalina customer service. I called, waited a few minutes on hold, and then explained the situaton and gave them the numbers at the top of the receipt. Turns out, there was a paper jam in the coupon machine (which is why the Blink did not print as well). So, I have a $10 register reward coming in the mail! The CS rep was very polite, too. Here's the # in case YOU ever need it: 1-888-322-3814.

I got an award!

Walgreen's FAR Items

I went in hoping to snag some free or cheap Dove soap as seen in this deal here: http://jane4girls800dollarannualbudget.blogspot.com/2009/03/free-after-rr-soap-at-walgreens.html
But, they didn't have enough on the shelf to do the deal. So, I just picked up the free after rebat (FAR) items. It seems like there ought be a coupon on the Axe, but I didn't have one- still a profit when you factor in the bonus, though.
OOP: ZERO (used Gift Card from previous rebate)
Saved: $13.88 (because I paid with GC above)
Will get back $14.27 on my gift card when you factor in the 10% bonus.

Buying to give away....

One of our local ministries is in need of sugar, flour & cornmeal. I decided to use a $15 preloaded mastercard that I got from purchasing Olay cleanser a while back and was able to buy 8 bags for only $2.53 OOP. Depending on how much more the church collects Wednesday night, I may go back for more- it feels like cheating by using "rebate" money! But on the other hand, I would have otherwise spent it on myself, so maybe it's all the same anyway.
OOP: $2.53
Saved: $15.00

Kroger- Frozen Buy 10/get $5

Not my best trip ever, but I was able to restock my freezer! I won't list everything individually today- you can check out kroger's ad at www.kroger.com . I bought 5 1lb rolls of groung chuck at $2.19. I would have saved $1 by buying the 5lb roll for $9.95, but I prefer the smaller rolls- they freeze well and are just the right size for my family. I also picked up 3 Dr. K 12 pks for the kids at $1.77 ea and used my free tombstone coupon in my last Kroger mailing.
OOP: $68.79
Saved $20.29
